Greening Langkawi: A Tree Planting Collaboration with Local Schools

Recently our Langkawi team rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty for a good cause to plant 90 trees within our Kedah Cement Sdn Bhd premises. This meaningful effort marked a collaborative step forward in nurturing both the environment and young minds.
The initiative brought together students and teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan Penghulu Ahmad, alongside staff volunteers from our Langkawi Plant. The trees were part of a donation from the Forestry Department of Kedah, received in conjunction with last year's Hari Alam Sekitar Negara celebrations (Read More Here). We had enthusiastic students who enjoyed the activity, eagerly taking part in the planting and learning more about the importance of environmental stewardship.
To add to the sustainability efforts, the team also encouraged the repurposing of materials during the event such as using old detergent containers as watering cans. Bottles were collected among the employees in Langkawi as well as from nearby recycle centres. This creative reuse not only reduced waste but also added a practical, eco-friendly touch to the day.
Looking ahead, the Langkawi Plant team is already planning their next tree planting activity, along with upcoming beach clean-up efforts and more green initiatives. These continued actions reinforce the team’s long-term commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship on the island. Stay tuned as we continue to support and grow these impactful efforts together.
